How does one clean an old cigar humidor?

It’s a simple wooden humidor with cedar lining. I bought it when I was in college a few years back, and made the mistake of putting flavored cigars in with non flavored cigars. Are there any methods to cleaning the humidor so that I can start collecting cigars again?

How long will a handmade or factorymade stay fresh if i put it in a tube?

The 3 kinds in particular are the Swisher/Phillies/White Owl tube, Garcia y Vega Tube, and the tubes handmade cigars are made in. I can’t buy a humidor so i was wondering if I could keep handmade (or factory made) cigars in here.

I have a home made humidor in which I have a box of Cubans. Should I have the Cuban cigar box open or closed inside the humidor? I want to make sure the humidity is getting to the cigars and not being stopped by the box.

Should I buy a cigar humidor or just a cigar box?

I’m relatively new to the setup and well the etiquette of storing cigars. I like to enjoy a few cigars a week. I usually buy half a dozen cigars at a time and pick up new ones every few weeks. However I am very interested in keeping a supply of cigars on hand, primarily because I am moving back home to a town where I cannot buy cigars, literally anywhere within the town.

Anyhow I’m aware the proper storage and humidity of cigars is vital, but is a humidor only necessary when storing cigars for how long? Days? Weeks? Months? Years? At the shop I plan to buy a humidor, there are a variety of selections, some of which do not have a hygrometer, are these still humidors, or just storage boxes. I’m in favour of buying a cigar humidor to store my cigars for a few months, but won’t if they should only be used to age cigars. Should I go with a humidor or wooden box? Can they be the same?

I am new to cigars, and i just Bought a humidor, and I have been looking for a type of cigar to buy in bulk, so the question is, what is a good high quality brand that is fair in price, I’m not wanting to spend over 5. I was looking into Dunhill cigars, but they are high in price, so are there cigars that are like dunhill but not as expensive?

HELP! I live in Hawaii and my cigar humidor is too hot. The humidity is fine i just need to lower the temp.?

I have a new humidor and am dealing with the same situation as before with my older humidor where its just too hot. I live in a studio so there is no cool place to put my humidor its just in an area that gets little direct light. I don’t know how to cool down my humidor if i cant put it some were with a lower temperature. Please help.

Cigars, Humidors… Questions? Need Advice!?

So the guy I am dating is into Cigars. He does not have a humidor and I would like to purchase one for him. I do not really know anything about cigars, let alone humidors. I am looking for something that is not cheap, but not expensive… something that will last… Are there accessories (i dont know what to call it) that I will need to get as well, besides some new cigars to put in it??

I know he has looked at travel ones as well… But I want this to be a suprise so I dont wanna ask him too many questions ya know, because he will know I am up to something…. So can anyone recommend a website or a brand, or something along those lines for me to start looking for a gift for him?? Any advice, suggestions, or anything would be helpful!! Thanks!!

Cigar Humidor Has High Humidity?

Hey,
I recently bought a Cigar and am having trouble getting the humidity right. I seasoned the humidor and use a calibration bag for my digital hygrometer. I also have a medium case of 70% humidity beads. What can I do to get the humidity right? It has been hanging around 77 and 78%.

A question for people that know about cigars and humidors…?

I was just recently introduced to cigars and decided I would like to purchase a small humidor (20-50 cigar capacity).

I have seen some wonderful internet specials for sampler boxes, and I know most cigars come in boxes of 15+…my question is, will the cigars stay good in the box they come in for awhile or do they need to be immediately removed and placed in the humidor?

The local cigar store here in town has a great selection of singles but they are really expensive…so I started looking at other websites and getting stumped on how to store my cigars once they come in the mail…

If I have to take them straight from the box and put in my humidor…that makes the nice boxes kinda useless then?

Cigar Question: Cellophane or not in the humidor?

I am a huge fan of premium cigars. Typically, when I buy some from the local cigar and wine shop, I take them out of the cellophane to place them in my humidor. I’ve noticed that some of my puros have a much stiffer draw after they have aged in the humidor, than those I smoke shortly after purchase.

So my question is, should I be aging my cigars with the cellophane on? My humidity and temperature are nearly perfect. Humidity is steadily at 69 to 72 percent, and the temp at 70 to 72 degrees. Any ideas?

Cigar Humidor- Can't get to correct temperature?

I recently received one as a gift and get not bring the humidor to the recommended temp of 68-72. I have tried the shot glass filled with distilled water, whipping the wood down with a damp cloth and putting distilled water into the humidifier that came with the box…..Any ideas???

How can I raise the humidity of my cigar humidor?

The current readings are at 75F temperature and only 55% humidity. I need to raise the humidity to near 72% but below 75%. I am afraid my cigars are drying out. I poured propylene glycol distilled water solution in the humiditor apparatus (the sponge) and still the humidity did not raise.

The humidor is stored in a room temperature licing room away from windows. The heater is barely on so I doubt it is the temp in my home since the temp reading is perfect in the humidor.
